Cast List and Requirements
HENRY (Lead role, age 30’s—60’s) Starts out wimpy but becomes increasingly bold as he dreams of a new life in Barcelona, wife-swapping and a full staff of servants to do his bidding! But, while he may leave the local fish and chips shop, it will never leave his psyche really.
JEAN (Lead role, age 30’s—60’s) More interested in her chicken dinner than in Spain, Jean resorts to drink to cope with the madness swirling around her. And under brandy’s influence, she creates a fair amount of madness on her own!
VIC (Supporting role, age 30’s—60’s) Ready for profit and adventure far more than his friend Henry, but often has to play ‘catch-up’ as to what story he is currently a part of. He leaves the room, in short, and comes back to find out that he has missed several episodes!
BETTY (Supporting role, age 30’s—60’s) Having more fun than watching the telly, Betty volunteers blithely to be the sister Jean never had and then the wife that Henry never realized he wanted! That is, she is game for a party!
DAVENPORT (Supporting role, age 20’s—50’s) When the CID doesn’t pay you what you are worth, a little bribery helps a lot. But all at once, Davenport finds himself posing as Henry’s younger brother in front of another police officer who is NOT on the take!
SLATER (Smaller supporting role, age 20’s—50’s) As a model policewoman, she tries to handle her difficult assignment, delicately telling Jean that her husband has been ‘murdered’, only requiring a cup of tea as her reward. But, when she never gets her cuppa and when people in the household become nuttier and nuttier, well, she loses it.
BILL (Smaller supporting role, 20’s—60’s) A London cabbie of the working class who simply wants to drive someone/anyone to the airport, as called for, and be done with it! But, inevitably, he gets caught up in the drama and plays an important part in the proceedings
MR. BRERFCURSE/A PASSER-BY (Small role, large physique, 20’s—60’s) The very important drug dealer who comes at the end to get his money back and is not afraid to shoot to do so. Lines are in Dutch!
